The orioles arrive at Campobello, May 11th
May 11th. The orioles showed up, flying low over the house. I immediately cut up oranges and put them on the apple tree. As I did this I whistled the same way I always did last year when putting new oranges on the tree. Immediately I had three orioles in the tree and they were on the oranges before I got back into the house. So these orioles have to be used to this location. So far I have seen two males, one a slightly immature, and one female.
The oranges were a little sour, so I put some agave nectar on the oranges and let it soak in. This made the orioles very happy all day. Joyce M.
