Highlights of birds seen on a walk out to Sprague's Neck Sandbar and surrounding area in Cutler on October 25 included 12 HORNED LARKS, seven WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, a MERLIN, and six NORTHERN PINTAILS.
A LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen from the causeway on Route 1 in Cutler on October 24.
A Golden Eagle flew along the shoreline of Spednic Lake in Vanceboro on October 25.

Downeast
On August 23, a juvenile BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was photographed among the estimated 500 shorebirds gathered on the South Lubec sand flats. Another juvenile BAIRD'S was found on the 25th on the south shore of Gleason's Cove in Lubec along with several RED KNOTS.
Lately there have been over 5,000 gulls feeding in Head Harbor Passage off Eastport straddling U.S. and Canadian waters. Among them on the 25/26th were: four LITTLE GULLS [in NB waters - Bill Sheehan], a couple LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, and several dozen BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES.
On August 26, a LEACH'S STORM-PETREL was closer to Deer Island, New Brunswick.

ATLANTIC PUFFINS, BLACK GUILLEMOTS, and COMMON TERNS continue to be seen in reduced numbers at Machias Seal Island, Seal Island and Matinicus Rock.
Birds in Frenchman's Bay on August 16 included 21 GREATER SHEARWATERS, one SOOTY SHEARWATER, and eight RED PHALAROPES.
Up to six GREAT EGRETS are being seen in the Bass Harbor Marsh on Mount Desert Island.
A single WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL and a CAPE MAY WARBLER were seen on August 17 at Schoodic Head.
Birds on the shores of Little Bay in Machiasport included a PIPING PLOVER on August 16 and an AMERICAN PIPIT on August 18.

A NIGHTHAWK was observed in East Machias on August 12.

Gull and tern numbers in the Passamaquoddy Bay region are building with 2000 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 400 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, and 400 ARCTIC TERNS and COMMON TERNS on August 10.
Four SPRUCE GROUSE, five BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS, eight GRAY JAYS, numerous OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS and BOREAL CHICKADEES, two BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, and several singing WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were highlights on the Burn Road in Topsfield on August 8.

DOWNEAST
Several BOREAL CHICKADEES and a SPRUCE GROUSE where found at the Boot Head Preserve in Lubec on July 29. Also on the 29th, another SPRUCE GROUSE walked across South Lubec Road.
A BAY-BREASTED WARBLER was found at Quoddy Head State Park on the 28th.
An UPLAND SANDPIPER was in the Navy tower field on Sprague Neck in Cutler on July 22.
A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS and multiple BOREAL CHICKADEES were seen on the Burn Road in Topsfield this week.
Seven COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were calling over the Bluebird Restaurant in downtown Machias on July 21.
A LONG-TAILED DUCK was spotted on July 20 in Machias Bay off of Cutler.
A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER on July 28 was noticed near the Navy Station in Cutler.
Two unusual sightings for Mount Desert Island were: a GRAY JAY at Somes Pond this week and a summer record of a PINE GROSBEAK back on the 19th.
HOUSE WRENS noted in Machias are pushing the edge of their range.

Seen in Frenchman's Bay near Egg Rock were an immature PARASITIC JAEGER on July 3 and a GREATER SHEARWATER on July 4. WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS continue to be seen in Frenchman's Bay within 200 yards of the shore. A lingering drake HARLEQUIN DUCK continues at Egg Rock in Frenchman's Bay.
A pair of RED CROSSBILLS was seen in Surry on July 5.
High counts of birds seen from a boat out of Machias Bay to Machias Seal Island this past week include three LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS, 171 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, three NORTHERN FULMARS, and GREATER and SOOTY SHEARWATERS.
A hen SPRUCE GROUSE was spotted along with two chicks on Birch Point Road, in Roque Bluff on July 3.
A COMMON NIGHTHAWK was seen at Quoddy Head.
