Subject: explosion of fulmars

Roger Burrows will no doubt give a full report of our trip today - just 5 of us out for a leisurely sail. We were hoping the strong wind would hold off longer but it didn't so we came in early. I took the day off from recording but was helping Roger with his list.

The most notable thing was the arrival of northern fulmars everywhere. I stopped counting at 50 but we saw many more after that. There was one  flock with 14 sitting together and bird after bird in flight.

The right whales were well to the east but 20+ fin whales were still off White Head Island. They have been there steadily since the beginning of  July.
