Subject: Hawks at Greenlaw/ Ducks Unlimited Trail
Today I went for an early morning walk on the Ducks Unlimited Trail in Saint George in hopes of adding to the list of birds seen yesterday. I cannot say that I saw anything new. Although, I did see several Sora today. Only one was observed yesterday.
Later in the day I managed to get in one hour of hawk watching at Greenlaw. From 10:50 to 11:50 I observed the following.
1 American Kestrel
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk
7 Broad-winged Hawks
2 other Broadwings were observed. These birds seemed to have already found a home for the summer.
Skies were almost completely cloudless. Winds were very light and from the Southwest.
Todays birds crossed the Saint Croix near the north edge of Saint Andrews. Observations were made from the southern most ledges on Greenlaw.
