If you've ever seen what appears to be a miniature version of a humming bird hovering around your garden, you have likely seen a hummingbird hawk moth, similar to the one pictured here in a garden at the Roosevelt Campobello International Park. These moths have clear wings and are daytime fliers, hovering and feeding on nectar much as do humming birds, and are members of a group of moths called Sphinx moths.
No, the gardens at the park are not blooming yet. This is an image from last year.
