Bay of Fundy Spring Wildflowers

It won't be long and we will be seeing spring wildflowers again. Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) is one of our earliest spring wildflowers, blooming before the leaves appear. The small, white, bell-shaped blossoms of leatherleaf (Chamaedaphne calyculata) are found in sphagnum bogs and on the borders of ponds and lakes. The outer ring of Witch hobble (Viburnum alnifolium) flowers have no reproductive parts; the smaller flowers on the inside are the reproductive blossoms.
