Snowfleas Have Arrived!!!

Valentines Day was being celebrated in Bayside by a host of small birds in the trees going nuts with their chorus of chirping, Yesterday I heard the mating call of a Chicadee for the first time this year, and on my evening sundown walk I had to go back to get my camera to capture another host of critters, this time in a lowly footprint on my trail to the cabin.

It was cold (about - 4C) and nearly dark, but that didn't seem to be slowing them down . They were taking springtime literally! hop hop hop. It was pretty nice earlier which must have inspired them to come up through two feet of hard snow to celebrate Valentines Day! Isn't "love" wonderful?!

PS, One Google hit said they have been around for 400 million years, probably the oldest and most numerous bug (hexapod) on earth.

Thanks Tim: this is our first "bug" post. I wonder if anyone else has seen these fascinating critters? Art
