Subject: Rough-legged Hawk
Today I spotted a Rough-legged Hawk hover hunting over Kerr's Ridge. After a bit of looking over the area the bird moved off to the east. I could not help but wonder of this bird was a spring migrant working its way along the coast. The timing is about right.
In a few weeks we should start seeing more regular movements of hawks. When that occurs, I will be heading out to some nearby vantage points to see what the spring movement is like around here. I do not expect much to come of it, but I might get lucky and see some modest
movements from the hills near Greenlaw Mt.
