May 27th, 2011 Campobello

Lot of birds today. Ospreys calling overhead when I did not have the camera. A bunch of waxwings in the apple tree. Parula, black throated green and chestnut -sided warblers in the trees nearby. A broadwing hawk in a tree overhead.

And a story: I was watching for the night heron when I saw the black duck fly in to the nest at the edge of the pond. I have seen it fly in many times. This time there was a huge squaking and splashing and flapping and much noise and confusion. Soon, a coyote trotted out and down the road. There may have been another. I fear for the nest at the very least. There is still one duck alive that I heard calling. Life goes on.
