Wandering Bay of Fundy beaches? Here's a warning you need to read.

Art,
Just a reminder about marine marker canisters that periodically wash ashore.
Marine Markers.

A visitor to our park recently reported such a marker to a member of our staff, who brought the marker to our maintenance area.
As directed on the canister, we called the local RCMP office, where an officer contacted the military.  The RCMP took the marker to their office and a member of the military's bomb disposal unit will pick the marker up soon.
It is important to note that our staff member should have left the marker where it was found.  As it says on the canister (if still legible) - Do not handle.  Call the RCMP.
These markers are designed to sink, but do not always do so.  We were told that a 1% chance exists that the markers can ignite or reignite, and that in the past at least one RCMP vehicle was lost because the marker ignited while being transported.
