Downeast Maine Bird sightings this week.

Seen in Frenchman's Bay near Egg Rock were an immature PARASITIC JAEGER on July 3 and a GREATER SHEARWATER on July 4. WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS continue to be seen in Frenchman's Bay within 200 yards of the shore. A lingering drake HARLEQUIN DUCK continues at Egg Rock in Frenchman's Bay.

A pair of RED CROSSBILLS was seen in Surry on July 5.

High counts of birds seen from a boat out of Machias Bay to Machias Seal Island this past week include three LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS, 171 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, three NORTHERN FULMARS, and GREATER and SOOTY SHEARWATERS.

A hen SPRUCE GROUSE was spotted along with two chicks on Birch Point Road, in Roque Bluff on July 3.

A COMMON NIGHTHAWK was seen at Quoddy Head.

Twenty-four BOREAL CHICKADEES were tallied in the Lubec area with two flocks at Boot Head, three individuals at Quoddy, and one in Machiasport.

Seen in Topsfield were SPRUCE GROUSE, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, A BOREAL CHICKADEE, several GRAY JAYS, and two WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS.
