We took the ferry to Deer Island and I sat on a deck at Calder's Head overlooking Sipayik ( Pleasant Point). I was there just under an hour and I saw five porpoise; three going down Western Passage towards the outer bay and two going up towards St. Andrews. I also saw scattered gulls literally walking on water and skimming the waves and plunge diving for small fish, probably herring. June 21st 09
On the way home on the ferry we crossed three more porpoise almost under the bow of the Deer Island ferry. They were too fast for the camera. They were between the beach on Indian Island and Eastport. June 21st. 09
